On August 14, 2021, Haiti was hit by a devastating earthquake, and compounded by hurricane Grace. Eighteen miles from the epicenter of the earthquake and four and one-half hours away from the capital of Port-au-Prince in southern Haiti are the people of Les Cayes. A year after some initial help, the people living in Les Cayes are still in great need of shelter, health care, and other necessities. Much of the country is torn by instability and poverty. Please donate to provide for essential needs using the link below.
New York International Peace Rally 2023
Peace rally next to the building of the United Nations at the Dag Hammaskjold Plaza on May 27th, 2023 was a great success. It coincided with May 16th, the International Day of Living Together in Peace, declared by The UN General-Assembly, in its resolution 72/130, as a means of regularly mobilizing the efforts of the international community to promote peace, tolerance, inclusion, understanding and solidarity.
Representative of many religious concessions, political and civic leaders encouraged peace, togetherness and reconciliation of conflicts in the world and between Ukraine and Russia.
Signatures are gathered for Petition to the United Nations to Establish a Memorial for Victims of Conflicts Around the World, including the armed conflict between Ukraine and Russia and civil conflict in Haiti.
This initiative is an extension of a successful march in Haiti in December of 2022 led by Bishop Lubin Moise that promoted peace in Haiti and between violent gangs.
The memorial will serve as a reminder of the importance of peaceful resolution to conflicts and will promote healing and reconciliation among affected communities.
Mount Sinai Eco Village Haiti
In April of 2022, a small team went down to Les Cayes to assess the needs of the people, which were many. While there, we met the mayor and other city officials who provided three acres of land for development of the EcoVillage.
We have been in contact with two doctors who reside in Les Cayes and who are providing health care and assessing the needs of the people. To support their work a medical team is being put together to do examinations, consultations, and treatment by qualified doctors who will be traveling to Les Cayes in October of this year.
We ask for your financial support for this medical mission and to cover the costs of medications with the aim of providing care to the many forgotten people of Les Cayes.
